In 1995, Len Corkery founded Computer Solutions in Colborne, Ontario. Despite the challenges he faced as a quadriplegic, Len built a thriving business driven by determination, skill, and commitment to exceptional service. In 1998, his son Jim Corkery officially joined the company, managing the service department within the shop.
As the business grew, Len focused increasingly on accounting and quoting, while Jim concentrated on on‑site service work. Together, their combined efforts earned Computer Solutions numerous awards, recognizing the outstanding quality of their service.
During the early 2000s, the shop was often filled with the energy of Len’s grandchildren, as family members worked side by side. The company became a gathering place for the Corkery family, and those strong family ties were reflected in the sincerity and integrity of the work. Today, those once‑young grandchildren are adults, with some eager to continue the legacy.
In 2006, Len passed away, and in 2008, Jim left the company to begin working independently. Computer Solutions was sold and operated under new ownership until the early 2020s. Eventually, the business was closed, leaving behind little trace of the company that Len had worked so hard to build.
Picking up where his father left off, Jim revived the core values of quality service and exceptional value when he founded Corkery’s Computer Solutions. These same principles — Honesty, Reliability, and Genuine Care — continue to guide the company today, just as they did when Len first opened the doors in 1995.
Throughout his career in information technology, Jim Corkery has served the legal, medical, manufacturing, agricultural, transportation, construction, software development, fabrication, automotive distribution industries, municipal, and First Nations organizations, spanning from Oshawa to Peterborough to Belleville, and the communities in between. Jim’s extensive experience allows him to recommend effective, practical solutions for a wide range of IT challenges.
